Word and character limits in client deliverables

A validation process for proposals, metadata, platform fields, and other length-constrained content.

TPublished by THB Project

Length requirements should be verified against the current submission field, platform documentation, request for proposal, or publication standard. Platform limits and display behaviour may change without notice.

Common validation categories

  • Metadata — search-result snippets may truncate based on content, device, and query; no fixed display length is guaranteed.
  • Platform profiles and posts — current limits should be confirmed in the applicable platform documentation.
  • Proposal summaries — follow the word or page limit stated in the request for proposal.
  • Application fields — treat published character limits as hard submission constraints.

Review procedure

  1. Complete the substantive draft before final length reduction.
  2. Use Text Tools to measure words and characters.
  3. Confirm whether spaces, formatting, and line breaks count toward the applicable limit.
  4. Validate the final text in the destination field before submission.
